Story about our sanctuary

Welcome to Elephant Welfare Sanctuary

There many small elephants camps are still facing the changes of the modern world.

Those elephants will be cut off from help. It’s not like elephants in the big camps that tourists can access.

Many elephant families still have to contend with this change. Especially families who do not have access to the tourism industry.

This EWS project has seen with those problems, we have sought a way to help small elephant camps in the countryside in order to raise the standard of elephants and their care takers livings. And We are committed to being an elephant family before their elephants fall into the hands of businessmen trying to take advantage of their elephant camps. If their places are not suitable we will help them to improve the places or seeking the new places for them for better environment surroundings.

So the elephant camps or Sanctuaries where we were taken to was a small elephant camp that really needed help. There were not many tourists wandering around. In our places there will be elephants approximately 3-8. only because we focus on helping elephants who truly lack opportunities And there is still a great need for help. And we really want you to experience and learn on your visit to Thailand. You will get to experience the elephant family up close.

If you expect to see a lot of elephants and a lot of tourists ( such as 1 elephant per 6-12 people ). This place is probably not for you.

Facts of Elephants

Currently, elephants in Thailand are well taken care of by their owners and caretakers because those who can raise elephants and live with them must have a lot of love and sacrifice. You have to be with them all the time. And elephants are very valuable and have emotional value for the elephant family, including Thai people because elephants are one of the symbols of Thailand.

Numbers of Thai elephants: ( Year 2024 )

According to Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, there are 7,300 elephants in Thailand in Total. ( 3,500 domestic elephants and 3,800 domestic elephants )

Buddhists Believe

Elephants are sacred animals and have a long history with the Thai country and culture, including Buddhism.
Elephants helped the Thai people fight to gain freedom from their enemies, and Thai people have been independent until today.

And 2,600 years ago, elephants took care of the Buddha throughout the cold weather for 3 months in the Himalayas. Therefore, elephants are considered sacred animals with high morals for Thai people and Buddhists. And Buddhists still believe that elephants are the last beasts that will be born as humans in the next life.

We are delighted and grateful that everyone has taken a part in our project to join our elephants welfare programs. It means lots to us to move forward to reach our goals.
We believe that from the small points we try to do today will be a great power in the future.
